Optimal Parallel Algorithms for Computer Vision Problems

چکیده
The computational model on which the algorithms are developed is the arrays with reconfigurable optical buses (abbreviated to AROB). It integrates the advantages of both optical transmission and electronic computation. In this paper, instead of using the radix-2 system, a radix-x system can be used to represent the numbers of the intermediate results of algorithms. We first design two Oð1Þ time basic operations for computing the prefix sums of N and N 2 integers each of size Oðlog N Þ-bit on the AROB using N 1þð1=cÞ and N N 1þð1=cÞ processors, respectively, where c is a constant and c51. Currently, these are the best-known results. Then, based on these two basic operations, several Oð1Þ time parallel algorithms for computer vision problems are developed. These problems include shape moment computation, histogramming, histogram modification, Hough transform and median row. Based on the product of time and the number of processors used, all proposed algorithms are time and/or cost optimal. # 2002 Elsevier Science (USA)

Static Task Allocation in Distributed Systems Using Parallel Genetic Algorithm
Over the past two decades, PC speeds have increased from a few instructions per second to several million instructions per second. The tremendous speed of today's networks as well as the increasing need for high-performance systems has made researchers interested in parallel and distributed computing. The rapid growth of distributed systems has led to a variety of problems. Task allocation is a...
متن کاملA New Approach to Solve N-Queen Problem with Parallel Genetic Algorithm
Over the past few decades great efforts were made to solve uncertain hybrid optimization problems. The n-Queen problem is one of such problems that many solutions have been proposed for. The traditional methods to solve this problem are exponential in terms of runtime and are not acceptable in terms of space and memory complexity. In this study, parallel genetic algorithms are proposed to solve...
متن کاملA Hybrid MOEA/D-TS for Solving Multi-Objective Problems
In many real-world applications, various optimization problems with conflicting objectives are very common. In this paper we employ Multi-Objective Evolutionary Algorithm based on Decomposition (MOEA/D), a newly developed method, beside Tabu Search (TS) accompaniment to achieve a new manner for solving multi-objective optimization problems (MOPs) with two or three conflicting objectives. This i...
متن کاملA New ILP Model for Identical Parallel-Machine Scheduling with Family Setup Times Minimizing the Total Weighted Flow Time by a Genetic Algorithm
This paper presents a novel, integer-linear programming (ILP) model for an identical parallel-machine scheduling problem with family setup times that minimizes the total weighted flow time (TWFT). Some researchers have addressed parallel-machine scheduling problems in the literature over the last three decades. However, the existing studies have been limited to the research of independent jobs,...
متن کاملA New Parallel Matrix Multiplication Method Adapted on Fibonacci Hypercube Structure
The objective of this study was to develop a new optimal parallel algorithm for matrix multiplication which could run on a Fibonacci Hypercube structure. Most of the popular algorithms for parallel matrix multiplication can not run on Fibonacci Hypercube structure, therefore giving a method that can be run on all structures especially Fibonacci Hypercube structure is necessary for parallel matr...
